'just wanted to give you a rather belated update on how brilliantly Thomas is getting on.

You probably remember that Thomas was an incredibly shy and nervous little boy who was a stray that you weren’t sure was going to be able to be re-homed. However, after a couple of weeks with his fosterers (who did a brilliant job), he was showing improvement and you were happy for him to be adopted at the end of May 2008.

Once with us, he spent the first day worryingly hiding in a corner with his back to us – some tuna just about tempted him out! However, by that evening, he was being very brave and surprising us with brief hello’s and inquisitive sniffs. His confidence has since grown and grown and we are now very proud to have an adorable, friendly, affectionate and very handsome Thomas living with us. At times, he’s needed a lot of patience and love, and I’m not sure he would have coped in a more noisy family environment, but it has been a very rewarding journey. He still gets a bit overwhelmed by the hoover and large numbers of people, but he’s even getting much better on that too.

His favourite pastimes seem to be playing with his extensive collection of toy mice and ping pong balls, as well as going out in the rain – maybe so he can then be rubbed down and dried off with his towel! Slobbing out on the sofa is fairly high on the list too (see attached photo). He’s now a huge fan of being cuddled, which has come as a big surprise considering what he was like when he first came to us. He’s also very good at having a “chat” and will hilariously almost answer questions.

Thank you for giving us the chance to give Thomas lots of tlc and a new start. He’s very much loved and a fantastic little character. Life wouldn’t be the same without him!!'
