The Walton 40 One of the interesting cases this year has been the Walton 40. I received a call from a woman who said she had 40 rabbits living together in a bedroom. When I passed the message to Donna, I said that although I thought I heard the number 40, I may have got it wrong. I hadn’t! Janice and Donna dropped everything and went straight round. It was like a scene from a nightmare - all the rabbits were fighting and covered in scabs and abscesses. Many had eye infections. The big rabbits were attacking the younger ones who were screaming in terror and pain. We took all 14 females straight away. Amazingly only 5 had litters. With extra offers of help, mainly from people on the Rabbit Re-home forum we managed to get all the rabbits out by the end of the week. Sadly two of the rabbits died from their untreated wounds. |
